British tennis star Emma Raducanu concludes this year's campaign and plans to retain coach through next year.
The British player advanced to round three in three out of four Grand Slams in the current campaign.
Emma Raducanu from Great Britain has pulled out of her remaining competitions in 2025 due to the illness she has been fighting for the last week and a half.
The 22-year-old was scheduled to compete in events in Asia but has decided to fly home to rest and recuperate ahead of launching next year's training.
Her upcoming training will involve coach Francisco Roig, as both individuals have decided to continue collaborating in 2026.
She underwent blood pressure monitoring during her first-round match against Ann Li in Wuhan last week and retired when trailing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.
She needed once more a visit from the doctor at the Ningbo Open this week, where she was defeated in three sets to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in the first round.
She was also playing far from freely in the third set versus Zhu owing to a lower back issue that has affected her during parts of the season.
These outcomes meant an encouraging season, in which Raducanu rose into the international top 30 for the first time in more than three years, concluded with three straight losses.
The athlete was close to victory with three match points then was defeated by American player Jessica Pegula in the third round in Beijing last month.
The player achieved 28 victories this year and made it to the semi-final round in Washington, but her standout performance was at the Miami Open in March.
The British number one advanced to the quarters of a premier WTA event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro en route then falling in three sets to Pegula, ranked fourth.
Her coach was Mark Petchey as coach from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role for the US Open.
The initial agreement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was through the season's conclusion but the collaboration persists, with a training session scheduled in the coming months.
The athlete revealed that a three-day test period alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as the meeting was kept under wraps.
The player was close to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at their first tournament together in August's Cincinnati tournament.
Roig joined her in the New York tournament, where she made the third stage then falling to 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
