Former Physician Accused of Sexual Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Patients

Prosecutors report that a former doctor stands accused of performing sexual assaults against 38 individuals who were patients.

The Serious Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – including acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.

One senior CPS official stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

The charges follow what investigators called a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

Breakdown of Charges

Prosecutors outline the forty-five charges he is charged with:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.

Authorities are urging individuals with information to get in touch with the relevant police force.
