President Trump Calls Loved Ones of Shot National Guard Personnel to White House

Former President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the family of a Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the executive mansion.

He added that he spoke to her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.

Background on the Heartbreaking Event

US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a violent incident on last Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in grave state.

Vigils across the state have been held in their remembrance.

White House Offer

The president explained he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the loved ones of both individuals of the state National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” the president told reporters. “And likewise with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”

Public Support

Mourners assembled over the past few days at a local school in the state to honor Sarah.

Both they had been working with the military unit as part of the president’s government program to support public safety in DC.

Honoring Sarah Beckstrom

“She was the type of pupil that teachers wished for. She behaved with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that encouraged those around her,” Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s former high school, told the media. “She was sweet, considerate and always ready to help others.”

Service plans for Sarah are still being arranged.

Legal Steps and Government Revisions

Authorities have indicted a 29-year-old Afghan national with one count of first-degree murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy led the administration to pause asylum processing and cease issuing visas to holders of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the AP.

He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s leader Morrisey mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer the attorney general told Fox News Sunday that she also intended to meet with Wolfe’s family.

Memory of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County high school in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a military police officer with distinction, as stated by the military.

“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had bravery,” he addressed the crowd at the vigil. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has created a legacy that’s going to be remembered always.”
