19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev claimed his initial title for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid season, achieving just one match at the big events and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in specific - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with long-time trainer Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden title after the Italian tournament and first on a hard court after March of 2023.

Success also signifies the Russian has won 21 championships at 21 various tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my children at once, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," commented ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, featuring in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted commentators to wonder if his skill to play at the elite level was over.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform aggressively, supported by an improved serving game.

The champion came back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, taking 4 of the concluding five points to go ahead.

Both players swapped service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his initial ATP Tour victory, took control to push for a final set.

The opponent saved 4 early break points in a competitive final set before the champion broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the title with a rally at the net, with his opponent failing to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
