Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Support After PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot acknowledged that it's natural for questions to be raised about his position following another heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth loss in twelve matches, representing the team's worst streak after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a tough night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I have got significant support from the top,” Slot remarked.

“It would be great to turn it around and get a victory naturally but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my position. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the team officials, Slot said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “In the normal exchanges I sense the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat yet so we'll see.”

Persistent Failings and Player Reaction

The manager lamented recurring failings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, namely wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the words.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a period of this nature with performances like these.”

Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And until that badge is removed, we’re always going to fight.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to its rightful place, show everyone once more what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, things are bad and it must improve.”
