Supporters Call for Detainment of Individual Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Passionate fans of the actress are demanding that a man who jumped a barrier and grabbed the celebrity during Thursday's Wicked: For Good premiere be taken into custody or deported from Singapore.
A viral clip reveals the individual from Australia pushing past photographers and charging at Grande while the actors proceeded down a yellow carpet flanked by onlookers.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo promptly pulled the surprised actress away from Mr Wen, who was observed being escorted out of the premiere by security officers.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "free after being taken in", though official papers revealed that he was due to be present on Friday morning. It is unknown if he was charged.
History of Event Invasions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Troll Most Hated", has invaded a celebrity gathering. His Instagram profile features videos of him interrupting other star-studded functions, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney performance in June this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers concert in the same location last year.
"Steps should be implemented enforced against him as this is obviously a punishable act," stated an Instagram user, in a response to a video Mr Wen posted of his act.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" a different Instagram user wrote.
Fans Express Concern Over Grande's Safety
Several fans criticized Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had revealed suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after a devastating incident at the conclusion of her 2017 performance in Manchester, killing 22 people and harming numerous individuals.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" wrote one more response on Instagram.
Several supporters also questioned event staff at the gathering for not being sufficiently alert; while some demanded social media platforms to remove Mr Wen's content.
Response and Premiere Information
In clips circulating online, Grande looked surprised when she was approached by the intruder. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed reassuring her while Mr Wen was led out by staff.
Grande has remained silent on the event, and the premiere activities continued without further issues.
Many of supporters had gathered in a sea of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good international launch in a Singapore venue, including a number who had queued for as long as eight hours before it began.
The film, to be released on the 21st of November, is the follow-up of a two-film interpretation of the well-known stage musical Wicked, which focuses on the unlikely bond between two distinct characters.
The production itself is a adaptation of the twentieth-century book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the character Glinda Glinda, was dressed in a champagne pink sequin dress at the event while Erivo, who plays the villainous character, wore a sleek black dress featuring roses.
They were accompanied by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the highest-grossing movie of last year in the UK, and earned 10 Oscar nominations, securing a pair for excellent wardrobe and set decoration.
